Welcome to Room 316

       Hello!  My name is Kelly Smith.  I would like to welcome you and your child to my class.  I would like to take a moment to tell you a little bit about myself.  This year will be my twelfth year teaching.  It is my sixth year teaching at South Newton Elementary School.  I previously taught at Three Creeks Elementary School in Lowell, IN.  I have taught kindergarten for three years and first grade for eight years.

      I live in Brook.  I am married to my wonderful husband, Steve, who is a crop insurance adjuster and a farmer.  I have three very active and adorable daughters.  Amelia is six, Charlotte is three and a half, and Etta is almost  a year and a half old.  My daughters love to listen to books and play outside with our dog, Lucy.  Besides spending quality time with my family, some of my interests include reading, playing board games, and taking walks.

      First grade is such a special and exciting time for your child as he or she embarks upon new adventures in their world of learning.  I understand that you and your child may meet this year with excitement or apprehension (or a little of both).  I am working hard to make a smooth transition into first grade for the students in Room 316.  I am looking forward to working with both you and your child.
